Glaucoma is a group of eye conditions often caused by high intraocular pressure (IOP) that damage the optic nerve, which is responsible for transmitting visual information from the eye to the brain. Often, it progresses without noticeable symptoms, hence it is called the "silent thief of sight". These conditions affect millions of people worldwide, with an estimated 80 million individuals suffering from the condition. In India, the prevalence of glaucoma is estimated to be around 12 million, with nearly 10% of cases resulting in vision loss due to late diagnosis.
